New Idea!!

I am going to try to make a reusable sandwich bag. If it works out, I will try to sell them. I can't wait to try it out! First I have to find some good fabric and a liner. I will post updates soon. This is my last week of work before my three week vacation so hopefully I will have time to work on some stuff. I also am excited to get started on the ribbon blanket that I bought stuff for!

Hair bows!

Yesterday I went to Hobby Lobby and I am officially in love! I bought some more ribbon and finally found some alligator hair clips. I also found some crocheted headbands. I only bought one because while they were not expensive, I know I can get them cheaper. I just wanted to buy one for photo purposes. So this morning I decided to make little bow clippies. Super cute and easy to make!

This picture does not do them justice!

Here is a sample of the ribbon I have right now that will work for these clips. So if you want to buy some, just let me know what number ribbon you like and I can make it for you. Only $2.50 for a pair. Don't see a ribbon on there that you like? Let me know what you are looking for and I will try to find it. Click the picture to see it larger.
Here is a hair bow attached to a crocheted headband. These are perfect for little ones with little to no hair! The bow is attached to an alligator clip so you can take it off and use just the bow later. I think this would look great for a birthday or pictures paired with a tutu to match. Again, I can make this in different colors. Just let me know what you are looking for. I can e-mail pictures before I start making it to make sure it is what you want!

Creations so far

Here are pictures of some of the things that I have made. The actual item you see was made for someone in particular. If you are interested in an item, I can make them same or I can change it to fit your needs.

These are wooden letters that I hand painted for my niece. These letters are only about 3 inches tall (maybe a little less). I can get them in a few different fonts and sizes. If you are interested in different fonts and sizes, let me know and I can send pictures of what is available. These have ribbon on them for hanging but I can also put something on the back to hang them. I can also add felt to protect the wall. They will also be finished with a UV blocking clear coat so they won't chip or fade from the sun.
I also made these wall hangings. They are hand painted on a 5x7 canvas. I can do bigger if that is what you want. Again, these are hanging by ribbon but I can add a picture hanger to them. You can buy one or you can buy a set. This is a set of three.

The whole set.
Here is a close up of the letters before the ribbon was attached.

Here is another piece of wall art. This is about 18 inches long. I don't have the exact measurements but I could get them for you if you were interested. This can be done in any color scheme you want with your little one's name or a phrase on it.
Here is my favorite! A tutu for your little girl. These are great for birthday parties, pictures, or just for playing dress up. This one is a solid pink but I can make one with multiple colors. It will be made to fit your little girl. All you have to do is send me her measurements.

Work in progress!

I really am ready to get serious about this business. Today I went to JoAnn's to get wooden letters to make a birthday present. I ended up getting a bit more than just letters and didn't stop after JoAnn's. I also went to Micheal's and Wal-Mart. Tomorrow I might go to Hobby Lobby. I also bought some ribbon, fabric, and pre-folds. With the fabric I plan to make a blanket for Claire, my niece. It will be similar to the Taggie blankets but I can't call it that unless I want to pay a nice fine. Instead, I will call it a Ribbon Lovey. I also bought thread to match the fabric and some more pins to hold everything together. Now I just need to see if I can remember how to use the sewing machine!

With the pre-folds, I plan to make burp cloths. I also got a small piece of fabric for one or two of those. They will be boy colors which is exciting because everything I have made so far is for girls. Now I just need to find a baby boy who needs them. I also want to practice embroidering so I can put names or initials on things like blankets and burp cloths. This will have to be done by hand since my sewing machine can not do that.

I also looked for alligator clips today at all three stores and had no luck finding them. I think all three stores were out because they all had other hair accessories and I know for sure I have seen them at Micheal's. That is the main reason for wanting to go to Hobby Lobby tomorrow. I have never been there before so that is another reason for wanting to go. I really want to make some hair bows with the ribbon I found.

So much to do! For tomorrow though, I need to paint the letters. In August I have three weeks off of work so that should give me some time to work on these other projects. Once I get some things made, I will take pictures to post so I can get this going! But for now, I need to post pictures of the things I have made already. I will do that in a separate post.

Getting Started!

I am excited to start this new blog and a new business! For my first post I thought I would just tell a little about myself and what this blog will be all about.

I am a nanny who lives in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. I have always enjoyed crafty things. I think it runs in the family. I also enjoy making a little extra money. I hope that one day this will be more of a business than a side job so that I can afford to work less and spend more time on it. I also want to run a small photography business. In order to make money on photography I will need a better camera. So for now, I want to get this started so I can save money for a new camera.

Some of the things I would like to sell include:
Tutus
Bows and headbands
Frames
Name door signs
Wall hangings
Name wall hangings
Diaper cakes
Burp cloths
Taggie blankets
Slings
Boppy covers
Memory boards

Some of these things I have already made and will soon post pictures of as well as prices and descriptions. Other things are just ideas that I have not tried yet. I plan to make everything customizable and made to order.
